On April 30 2007, the original concept for Slash Drive was created, drafted and published under the name upmypaper.com. It was created by Jacob Miller and Brenden Peterson, two high school students who thrive for change. The site was based on the idea that students needed an easy way to get assignments from home to school. It also was intended to be a backup for all their work, accessible anytime.
The website known as UMP to the student body of West Seattle High School, became extremely popular. The first week the site was online We received over 15,000 hits and over 300 members. Due to the tremendous and increased usage of the site in 2007, it became apparent the server was inadequate to handle the volume. During the summer of 2008, the server was replaced with a new one and older software was upgraded to provide faster speeds and more reliability from the web site.
In 2008 the UpMyPaper (UMP) site was [officially] renamed to Slash Drive. Slash Drive will continue to provide its members some of the same aspects as it predecessor while enhancing others to provide a more user-friendly and richer site experience than the original.SD has many enhancements planned and believe these will be extremely useful when implemented.
